It wasn't about your skill anymore. It was about commanding all those 8 man squads to fend off enemies and defend objectives.
CoD is run around, stand still, shoot, repeat. No strafing or jumping, just walk, hold right click, hold left click, with a built-in mini aimbot. That's all there is to it. Then you get OP kill streaks which make kills for you without doing anything. Absolutely amazing. The game is designed for newcomers to the genre.
You don't need any experience. Just pick it up, and you're good to go. Even the developers say that CoD fans aren't casual gamers, they're not even gamers at all. Battlefield on the other hand is more focused on team play something you only see in clans nowadays.
And not only BF, many other franchises are trying to do what CoD does in order to get more attention. So ye, everybody hates CoD since CoD 4 because it ruined the genre. I like Battlefield series, but it is - how to say it - just "relaxing" fps game.
You don't really need skill to be a pro while playing it. Fragging is pretty much easier than in CS or Quake. Yes, but even I myself grew to hate CoD because of all the hate yet have not played it, biased opinions are horrible. Whether it's skill to kill when it's easier or when it's harder, it's skill.
But I agree that movemement, map knowledge and knowing how to use using correct items is very important as well. A sort of wisdom. I was always the kind of guy who likes the playstile of rushing and getting killed. It's very fun when it occasionally pays off. I might get better stats by skulking around and being more careful but for me that's not so much fun. Counter-Strike: Source is still my favorite fps. Currently I'm taking a huge break of such games But I have no friends to play with :.
There are maybe almost full servers around 28 players and about 10 or so servers with only a few players. The player base is small but it is not non-existent. Yeah, I think it was this game that TotalBiscuit praised regarding the skill required. But as mentioned, I have no idea if it's still actively played. Comment has been collapsed. ShootMania Storm. I know it, but thanks :P. Well technically its called a portal GUN. Unreal tournament. Every Unreal Tournament but 3; three was a pile. Dunno what they were thinking with 3.
But I am of those that think that each game has its quirks and to be good in one doesn't make you better at another , so Im going to cop out and say all of them :P.
I vote this game because the characters have a speed and mobility that you only see in fighters like Street Fighter. Imagine launching a slow moving ball of of death towards your oponent second mouse button , wall jump out of the way, double jump to change your trajection, then snipe the ball of plasma with the primary fire. There are just layers and layers of mechanics implemented with this game to the point where it was overkill for most people.
Well, it's quake. Play it and you will know what I mean. This is still the fastest FPS out there fifteen years after it's launch. In my opinion, the only way CS could even be in the same league as UT 04 and Quake when it comes to skill is that CS is more popular, so there is more competition to be the best.
Though that competition makes me say that CS would be my number three choice, even though it really is just slo-motion target practice for kindergartners. Why is ARMA not listed? Die in 1 shot, realistic movement speeds and maps Also as a stellar oposite a game that gives you a high mobility and alot of chances to recover health like the Halo series.
Games that have the most parameters requires the "greatest skill" because it requires skill in more parameters. It was also bloody hard due to its reliance on tactics instead of running and gunning. Indeed, soldiering in was not a viable option. Deus Ex is also difficult for many other reasons, most notably its overabundance of skills. Players had to understand how their skill points would affect the gameplay, which meant determining their preferred playstyle from the outset.
To make matters worse, resources are scarce in Deus Ex to encourage players to thoroughly explore every level. Expertly-crafted levels and a plethora of choices make Deus Ex the PC classic fans know it for. It just so happens that a byproduct of this was a rather unforgiving combat system.
Why it's difficult: A brutal early-game and Immersive Sim elements. Immersive Sims masterfully blend player choice into their core gameplay rhythm, typically utilizing complex levels and tough enemies to encourage players to explore.
As was the case in Deus Ex , the reboot of Prey is a brutal experience for newcomers to this style of game. Prey fans can likely remember their first playthrough as sluggish and painful in the opening hours. Morgan Yu, the game's protagonist, is incredibly weak in the opening hours. Until players get their hands on a few Neuromods, taking on even Prey's weakest enemies is quite the ordeal. Scavenging for supplies and sticking to the shadows is key to survival.
For those that are used to Immersive Sims, this shouldn't be much of a surprise. However, those new to the genre were in for a tough time. This game's PvE activities were borderline masochistic with the way AI was handled. Harder difficulties would cause enemies to have perfect accuracy and use tactical equipment much more often. Worse, the player's friendly AI was detrimental to the experience as they would sometimes refuse to listen to orders.
While easier in co-op with real players, this game's learning curve and instant-deaths on higher difficulties definitely tested the patience of most gamers.
The S. The wasteland is a dangerous one with horrors just waiting to pop out from the cover of darkness and kill. As such, it's difficult for many gamers to get their bearings. Naturally, a combination of practice and character progression helps mitigate many of these issues, but that doesn't make the game any less forgiving.
Hazards and horrors lurk around every corner, and run-and-gun techniques simply aren't going to cut it as they would in a game like Call of Duty. Serious difficulty in the Serious Sam games is the ultimate challenge. Enemies have much more health while Sam is much more susceptible to damage. Croteam dramatically increased the number of enemies in each encounter in this installment. Levels are much larger, the weapon roster has expanded in smart ways, and the enemy roster is highly varied.
These major improvements in most difficulties become a burden on higher difficulties where making two mistakes can be disastrous. It gets worse when the game decides to place the player in a small room filled with hundreds of enemies. Why it's difficult: Demands absolute mastery of gameplay mechanics. This game will force players to enter a rhythm while demon-slaying to earn their black belt in destroying the forces of Hell. It does a fantastic job at this, even on the lower difficulties, but this game is at its most adrenaline-fueled on Ultra Nightmare.
A single mistake doesn't just cost players their life; it ends the current playthrough. Perfection is mandatory if anyone wants to beat this game on its hardest difficulty, but few games can improve someone's aiming and positioning skills quite like Doom Eternal. Ryzen X 4. User Info: thelocalhentai. Games with crazy mobility like conc jumping and non-hitscan stuff have the highest skill ceiling like TFC and Tribes Ascend. Tribes Ascend is on a whole different level and being good in it makes all those cod vids look like child's play.
Titanfall and Apex Legends also have source engine movement exploits, like bunny hopping and back sliding in the air that are great advantages to those that can reliably pull them off, so there's a hidden skill ceiling there.
Hard to compare between games though, so poll's probably going to be a popularity contest. User Info: GunmaN CSGO and it's not even close if you take everything into account. Quake and similar arena shooters require different style of aiming, way more long flicks and fast movements, but if you add all the tactics and detail into the equation, they can't compare because you're alone by yourself. I'm also playing Valorant since it's release and one would think a game with a dozen different agents with unique abilities would be harder from tactical standpoint, but no.
Doesn't come even close if we talk pure skill. User Info: SubwooferKing. I'm gonna make you the buffest dude Val Kilmer has ever seen. It's raw skill, testing lightning reflexes, movement abilities, and 3D map awareness.
