As one of the few companies to have made it on the list since its beginning in we are also WegmansProud to be recognized as a Great Place to Work Legend. At the center of what makes us great is our set of values that guide us in all that we do at Wegmans. We are passionate about our people, and we care about their well-being. We respect our employees, listen to what they have to say, and we work hard to show them that they are being heard. It's very active work that keeps you thinking ahead, but not a job for people who aren't already predisposed to prefer highly active work.
Most of the department managers in the store were good, but upper management went well out of their way to protect the bad apples and were all-around unhelpful. Corporate, on the other hand, is quick to act if you bring your issues up directly. Corporate employees work from home but others in different departments in divisions waste time traveling to stores to sit in a dining area and then travel home in rush hour traffic.
No sense in driving for hours to sit and type on a laptop. Leave a review. Help people like you. Average place to work but you are treated more like a tool than a human.
The culture at Wegmans is probably what most employees like the most. People are extremely friendly here, even if it is fake at times, and you can develop a lot of friendships here. However, you are still treated like an asset to the company and not a human being.
Cashiers are overworked and closely monitored they tracked how many items you scanned per minute among a multitude of other things and put company goals over employee health. Managers could not care less about a proper work-life balance, even for part time employees. Overall, Wegmans was an average place to work. It's a good first job and a good place to build a career, but I would not recommend working on the front end to anybody. Pros You will never be bored and there are a lot of opportunities for growth.
Cons Always busy, harms long-term physical health, and management does not care about you. Wegmans is a great company but when you have management they only care about the numbers and work the employees to death it makes for a very unhappy place to be.
I always felt targeted. Getting called into the office about things that were totally irrelevant to my job. I was a loyal employee for almost 10 years and was not treated with the respect I deserved. Pros Good pay, good benefits. Cons Felt like high school. Yes There are 2 helpful reviews 2 No.
Wegmans is a great company to work for. They train well, have a flexible schedule and will help you grow. Pros Flexible hours.
Cons Pay. Perfect beginner Job! The environment for the most part is very positive and fun. You learn a lot and gain some great relationships.
Yes No There are 1 unhelpful reviews 1. I worked there for only a year and a half, but during my time there, I learned a ton, and it relates directly to why Wegmans has been on the top company list for 21 years.
Here are three things I learned from Wegmans. I was an HR analyst. I ran numbers, I analyzed contracts and I made pay recommendations. That was my job. But I spent three weeks working in a store, on my feet, serving customers, stocking shelves, and running a cash register.
The only department I didn't work in was the bakery and that was simply because I needed to get back to my primary job. And perhaps they rightly assumed that if they tried to have me decorate a cake, I'd drive away business. This was not unusual. People in the corporate offices all took turns in the stores. During the period from Thanksgiving to Christmas, corporate and regional office staff took turns working in the stores.
All the senior leadership at least when I worked there had worked in leadership positions in the stores, as store managers or assistant managers.
The result of all this? Everyone knew the business. There weren't grand plans made to implement trendy things that would make employees' lives miserable , as so often happens in the retail world. Because everyone sitting in the meetings knew what it was like to stand on their feet for eight-plus hours a day, doing difficult physical labor while dealing with customers. That understanding meant policies and programs that worked.
Many roles, many personalities are the stars of our show! Delivering our promise to make a difference in our communities. High 5 for making Wegmans a happy place for everyone! In our stores or on the road, we love what we do at Wegmans! Don't See Your Company Listed?
